MYTH BUSTING - THE TRUTH ABOUT EXERCISE

You should always stretch before exercise. Stretching a healthy muscle before exercise does not prevent

injury or soreness.

For many years there has been importance placed on stretching before exercise. However recent expert opinion has moved away from static stretching before activity and toward a gradual and active warm-up period before exercise which ideally mimics the activity you are about to do, but is performed at a lighter load and slower pace.

Do a short warm-up to get the blood flowing to your major muscle groups and to loosen your joints.

NEW PROGRAM KEEP.ON.FIT. HAS ARRIVED

We have received grant funding from the council for a new program called Keep.On.Fit.  This program will focus on the importance of transition from traditional physiotherapy and rehabilitation for those who have undergone surgery. This allows patients to build a regular exercise habit which can support a return to work if needed but overall improves the quality of life considerably. This 8 week course (2 classes per week) is commencing Tuesday 5 February 2019. Session times are Tuesdays 2.30-3.30pm and Thursdays 9-10am. Cost is $80 ($5 per session).
